The group holds regular dinner meetings which include a talk by a specialist in a particular engineering discipline. The lecture programme is alternately organised by the Jersey and Guernsey committees. April: The Shard Tower

This month, John Parker discusses the construction of the Shard, which at 310m, is the tallest building in Western Europe.
September: Support Operations in Afghanistan

The United Kingdom's armed forces have been supporting operations in Afghanistan for some considerable years now.

Alan Bennett, Cheif Electrical Engineer at Aston Martin, will give an insight into the development of the Aston Martin Vanquish.
November: Space - The New Frontier

The lecture will show how technology has been engineered to allow humans to visit both the solar system and deep into our universe through human spaceflight missions and robotic avatars.

The CIGPE committee is delighted to announce the next engineering dinner talk, entitled "When the shaking stops – Short and long term effects of earthquakes". This lecture will be presented by Dr. Alexander Densmore at the Pomme D'Or Hotel, Jersey on Thursday 22nd November 2012.
The States of Jersey Back to Work Team at Social Security are offering an Employment Grant Scheme to potential employers. The scheme is designed to be as flexible as possible as long as the intention of the employer is to offer long term employment and the candidates are drawn from among those who have been looking for work for over a year. It also provides an easy and efficient process which saves on the normal costs associated with employment. Below outlines what the Grant Scheme allows, and how employers can benefit.
