This lecture will be presented by Sam Wane CEng at the The Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, Guernsey on Wednesday, 20 May and the Pomme D'Or Hotel, Jersey on Thursday, 21 May.
Our population is increasing and land for food production is getting smaller. The answer lies in Precision Agriculture, applying technology to control machines to sow, care and harvest more effectively, making efficient use of the land and ensuring the traffic on fields is controlled to specific areas, minimising damage. This presentation will show the latest advances in robot self-driving tractors, laser weeding, machine vision for crop inspection, soil sampling, computerised farm management, UAVs for crop inspection and how agricultural engineers are working across the globe to prepare for the predicted 9 billion people by 2050.
For Jersey Lectures - Lectures will start at 8:00pm (which are free to attend) but are proceded by an optional dinner, starting at 6:30pm. If you wish to attend the dinner at a cost of £20pp bookings can be made by phone 01534 856566 or email Darren.email@example.com.
