This lecture was presented by Simon Choppin at the Richmond Hotel, Guernsey on Monday, 27 September and the Pomme D'Or Hotel, Jersey on Tuesday, 28 September .
The talk will discuss the role of technology in football and how it has permeated the modern game in several ways; from the cameras recording the match to the machines used to manufacture the ball. Understanding how this technology affects the game is essential if we want to discuss which technologies we should embrace, and which ones should be consigned to the side lines.

Could technology bring an end to foul play? Have footballs become too round? How many times has spin saved England? My talk will aim to tackle all of these questions and discuss what the consensus is regarding football’s cutting edge.
