The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is the charity that exists to save lives at sea. The presentation identifies some of the technical challenges facing the RNLI, and how the Tamar class lifeboat was conceived to meet these challenges. The key design aspects of the Tamar class lifeboat are then looked at in detail, including the boat’s award winning control and monitoring system, SIMS.
